It is expected to help open the market for popular point-of-care diagnostic devices (POCT) as it can produce highly accurate test results without being affected by patents held by leading global companies.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size" style="font-style:normal;font-weight:100"><strong>Masangbae, CEO of AiBiotics, said on the 31st, “We have developed a POCT ‘Lukine’ that anyone can easily use,” and “We plan to complete performance verification within the year, complete clinical evaluation next year, and launch it around 2026.” He said, “Our long-term goal is to open an ‘era of home diagnostics’ where every home has a diagnostic device, like a coffee machine.”</strong></p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size" style="font-style:normal;font-weight:100">CEO Ma, who graduated from Hanyang University&#8217;s Department of Chemical Engineering, worked as a semiconductor process engineer at Samsung Electronics for over 10 years starting in 1993 before entering the bio-equipment field.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size" style="font-style:normal;font-weight:100">While many domestic diagnostic startups are focusing on developing reagents using specific biomarkers, he focused on equipment development from the beginning. This is because he judged it important to develop domestic equipment and build a hardware platform as Samsung Electronics’ semiconductors experienced their golden age of rising to the top in the world.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size" style="font-style:normal;font-weight:100">After its founding in 2017, the initial version of Lukin was completed around 2020. Since then, it has been working on upgrading the equipment to miniaturize it and reduce errors.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size" style="font-style:normal;font-weight:100">In order to perform molecular diagnostics (PCR) used to detect infectious diseases, etc., a patient sample must be collected at a hospital, etc., sent to a laboratory, and then follow-up work is required. Genetic material is extracted, treated with a reagent, and the temperature is raised and lowered repeatedly using PCR equipment to amplify the genetic material.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size" style="font-style:normal;font-weight:100">From the technology development stage, CEO Ma focused on solving everything from sample preprocessing to result derivation with a single device. POCT should be easy to use in any medical institution, but if it cannot handle the preprocessing process, it is just a ‘half-baked device.’ If a POCT with poor preprocessing technology is introduced, separate personnel are needed to preprocess the sample so that the machine can handle it. The meaning of on-site diagnosis fades.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size" style="font-style:normal;font-weight:100">The key is microfluidics. This is why global POCT leaders such as Sepid, acquired by Danaher for $4.5 billion in 2016, and Genmark, acquired by Roche for $1.8 billion in 2021, have developed their own preprocessing technologies and secured patents.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size" style="font-style:normal;font-weight:100">Representative Ma said, “We have secured a patent for a rotary type that is completely different from the existing commercialized syringe, roller, and piston methods,” and “It has the advantage of being able to expand the usability by integrating all the functions performed in the laboratory into a single cartridge and simply changing the temperature conditions and reagents.”</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size" style="font-style:normal;font-weight:100">He receives medical advice from his older brother, Co-CEO Sang-hyeok Ma. Co-CEO Sang-hyeok Ma, who is the head of the pediatrics department at Changwon Fatima Hospital, is a domestic expert in pediatric infectious diseases.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size" style="font-style:normal;font-weight:100">The goal is to commercialize a product that diagnoses tuberculosis by inserting a stool sample into a lukin. Existing POCT tests for tuberculosis using sputum samples. 30% of the population, including children and the elderly, cannot spit out sputum, making POCT testing impossible.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size" style="font-style:normal;font-weight:100">Professor Kim Myeong-ok of Kyungsang University is also developing a product for early diagnosis of dementia using a biomarker. It is being promoted as a pertussis diagnosis project. CEO Ma predicted that it could also be supplied as an environmental monitoring product to food companies with increasing demand for microbiological testing.</p>

<p>AiBiotics, selected as the first company of the Changwon Special City (Mayor Hong Nam-pyo) Venture Fund in 2020, has continued its efforts for corporate and regional development through government and local government projects such as the Ministry of SMEs and Startups&#8217; TIPS and Startup Leap Package Support Project, and based on this, has developed a product that can diagnose infectious diseases and diseases in real time on site.</p>

In<br>order to recognize the human body as a very complex biochemical factory and measure more diverse output values ​​for various variable inputs, a lot of reference data and computing power are needed. Valid input data is very important.<br>We are trying to find out which bacteria are prevalent before diabetes occurs and what it is like before colon cancer occurs. <p class="has-medium-font-size" style="font-style:normal;font-weight:100">I would like to introduce you to a tool for analyzing the gut microbiome that will become a tool for future intestinal examinations.</p>



<p>In the semiconductor process, if there is a problem with the wafer, the process chamber is checked for contamination, the process is stopped, and then restored to a high vacuum state.<br>If the vacuum does not show a problem, it is connected to the RGA equipment that analyzes the residual gas, and a very small amount of residual gas is detected, amplified, and displayed.<br>If a very small amount of gas peak different from the usual amount is seen compared to the process gas, this is assumed to be the cause of the problem, and the chamber is opened to find the cause.</p>



<p>The above solution works on two principles.<br>Amplification, a method of amplifying very small signals, amplifies the entire signal and applies the log function. Then, you can see large and small signals at the same time. It is a method of expressing one/ten/hundred/ten million as 1/2/3/4/5. That is the log that many dropouts complain about in high school. It is all useful.<br>SPC, not the SPC that makes bread, but &#8216;statistical process control&#8217;. The impurities that I saw at first did not have specs in the first place. However, since they were not there normally and are different from &#8216;normal&#8217;, there is a high probability that they will be the cause of the problem. <p>So at AiBiotics, we tried to apply the method used in semiconductor processing.</p>



<p>Chamber is &#8216;intestine&#8217; and various gases are &#8216;microbiome&#8217;.<br>We took the log function of intestinal microorganisms, which number hundreds of millions per gram, and expressed them as a graph, even for bacteria that are detected in very small amounts by attaching to the intestinal wall. And as the data accumulated little by little, we began to see special bacteria that patients had that were different from &#8216;normal&#8217; ones.</p>



<p>There are no specs, but it is clear that they are &#8216;different&#8217;.<br>Babies born by cesarean section have a significantly higher level of Citrobacter, patients with enteritis have a higher level of Clostridium, and babies who took antibiotics have a higher level of Enterobacter. People with diabetes<br>have a higher level of Prevotella Corpori, and babies with atopy have a random abnormal pattern of various strains of Firmicutes and Proteo.</p>



<p>A baby with very low diversity but a high concentration of lactic acid bacteria means that the mother is feeding her expensive lactic acid bacteria even though she is feeding her food that is not very diverse. Even though my son&#8217;s favorite food is kimchi stew, if there is no Prevotella and only a lot of Vulgatus, it means that he does not eat kimchi and only eats pork.<br>An uncle who eats ordinary food but has a lot of Acamanthia is a mountaineering fanatic.</p>



<p>If you input the analysis of the abnormal pattern seen in RGA, various analyses are possible like this. However, since there is no specification, it is not possible to make a diagnosis under medical law.<br>However, various meaningful analyses are possible.</p>



<p>As we accumulated over 2,000 data points, we began to resemble fortune tellers.</p>



<p>Someday, Spec will be created.<br>Since the pre-meal blood sugar level is set as Spec and diabetes can be diagnosed based on the number, it is necessary to collect gut microbiome data from many patients to create meaningful data.</p>



<p>RGA, introduced 25 years ago by an ambitious semiconductor engineer, has now become a fundamental tool in semiconductor manufacturing.<br>We are confident that our tool for analyzing gut microbiota will also become a fundamental tool for gut inspection.</p>

<p>It is made with Korean beef of good bloodline, good wheat flour from the American South, tomato paste made from Mediterranean coastal tomatoes, fresh tomatoes grown in Uiryeong, Gyeongnam, lettuce, eggs, cooking oil, vinegar, and mayonnaise mixed with the right amount of salt.<br>It has a little too much sugar, and slightly old cooking oil was used, and there are some parts that are slightly burnt, but it actually tastes good. Except for the fact that a little bit of fat was added for the taste, there is nothing bad about it.</p>



<p>The person holding me took a big bite. There was so much saliva. It was so wet that it rushed into my esophagus. Most of the saliva is water, but there are various electrolytes, enzymes, and various peptides in the mouth. The amylase, which is abundant in saliva, started to dissolve the starch in the bread. People who don&#8217;t brush their teeth often also have various bacteria. <p>Bacteroides fracilli, which loves refined flour, protein and trans fats, and oil-loving Ruminococcus were thrilled.</p>



<p>Prebeus, who enjoyed eating seaweed soup, has died out, and the starch-loving Furagilis and the meat-loving Vulgatus are proliferating freely. And thanks to these two bad guys, people are feeling unwell.</p>



<p>The kind-hearted Preveus and Bifidus are hiding in the barrier, starving today but looking forward to tomorrow. And Privotella, who was barely surviving, met a different fate because of this person who took antibiotics for periodontitis, and in their place, the gangster-like Puzo and Enterobacter took their place.</p>



<p>If you eat this kind of food every day, you never know when Proteo, the biggest gangster in this neighborhood, will show up. He&#8217;s always looking for barriers and hurting you.</p>

<p>The components of farts include air (oxygen/nitrogen) that comes in with food when you eat it, carbon dioxide (CO2) that you breathe in, sulfur dioxide and ammonia that you breathe in through the chemical reaction between digestive fluids and food, and various aromatic gaseous compounds (skatole, indole). And most importantly, various gases (hydrogen, methane) that your intestinal microorganisms produce when they eat food waste are added.</p>



<p>The technology to biochemically produce hydrogen and methane gas has already secured dozens of bacteria and is in the process of commercialization. Hydrogen is produced by bacteria in the intestines of many people, such as Clostridium, Enterobacter, and Klebsiella.
